Advice to follow after your IV therapy or booster appointment

Aftercare

While most individuals experience significant improvement after receiving IV Drips or Booster Shot injections, it’s important to recognise that each person is unique. There’s no assurance that you will necessarily perceive a change in how you feel post-treatment, and improvement in symptoms doesn’t necessarily rule out the presence of other potential medical conditions.
You’ve recently undergone an intravenous (IV) and/or intramuscular (IM) procedure. Your therapy may include vitamins, antioxidants, minerals, electrolytes, amino acids, and occasionally medications, or a combination of these substances.

Home care Instructions

  • Leave your bandage on for at least 30 minutes after your treatment.
  • Clean your bandage if there is any noticeable bleeding at the treatment site.
  • Keep the treatment site area clean and dry after removing your bandage.
  • Avoid showering or bathing or exposing the treatment site to water for up to an hour after your treatment.

Potential risks and complications

Potential risks and complications associated with the procedure include:

  • Pain at the puncture site.
  • Occasional bleeding or bruising of the skin.
  • Risk of infection.
  • Possibility of allergic reaction to any ingredients in the procedure preparation or treatment.
  • Difficulty in successfully placing the IV cannula in the vein.
  • Potential for accidental puncture of the vein wall, necessitating the use of an alternative site for IV placement.
  • Formation of a self-resolving blood clot in the superficial vein.
  • Infiltration, characterised by fluid and ingredient leakage from the vein wall into surrounding skin, which typically resolves on its own and is sometimes referred to as “tissuing.”

Please contact us or seek medical attention if you experience any of the following:

  • Loss of sensation or numbness around the procedure area or in the arms where the procedure was performed.
  • Repeated or worsening swelling at the puncture site.
  • Persistent bleeding from the puncture area that does not stop.
  • Development of a large bruise around the puncture site.
  • Bleeding from the puncture site that continues despite applying pressure for 15 minutes.
  • Redness or red streaking around the procedure site.
  • Shortness of breath, rash, itching sensation, swelling of your lips, tongue, throat, or any other signs of an allergic reaction.
  • Fever
